Conservancy supports childhood development

The Walker Bay Fynbos Conservancy recently donated funds to the Flower Valley Conservation Trust’s Early Learning Centre (ELC) at Flower Valley farm near Gansbaai.

Funds had been raised at a special food and wine evening hosted by Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, one of the Conservancy’s members. At the same event, BWI member Lomond Wines launched a new white blend, Snowbush, as part of its portfolio of wines named after fynbos species. Royalties from the sale of these wines have been committed to the Conservancy’s projects.

The Walker Bay Fynbos Conservancy was established in December 1999 by a group of landowners determined to ensure the preservation of the natural splendour of the Walker Bay area. Custodians to an amazing diversity of flora and fauna, the members have set about securing the long-term conservation status of the area and raising funds for projects in the Conservancy.

On the photo Marianna Afrikaner, chairperson of the governing body of the Early Learning Centre at Flower Valley farm, can be seen receiving a cheque from the Walker Bay Fynbos Conservancy’s Sean Privett (chairman) and Wayne Gabb (Lomond Wines). The Centre is in the background.
