In 1999, at the Trust's inception, the founding members tasked themselves with 6 main objectives: 1) To influence the use of land over the greatest possible area in the Cape Floral Kingdom, such that the conservation of flora and fauna, especially fynbos vegetation, becomes an integral part of planning and practice. 2) To raise awareness of the multiple values of fynbos vegetation and the need to take urgent action to conserve it. 3) To promote and establish informed and effective local community involvement in the Trust's activities and operations. 4) To maximize the influence and effect of the Trust's activities through the formation of strategic and tactical partnerships. 5) To restore the maximum possible area of fynbos and other natural vegetation to its natural state. 6) To acquire
land for the purpose of conservation where other options are not practical. |
